Maria Antònia Mateu Salvà

Palma de Mallorca, Illes Balears

Lives & works in Barcelona, Catalunya

{eng} My parents called me Maria Antònia, a typical Majorcan name. I was born in Santa Maria del Camí, and at the age of nine I moved to Palma de Mallorca in the same Balearic Islands. So my love to the mountains and sea from there is really hard. My passion for learning how to draw and paint started in my early childhood, so my parents bought me art materials. It wasn't until the age of 11when I started to go to an Art academy of the artist Antònia Oliver. I learned how I could from her. At the age of 15 I was studiying the A levels of Art in Palma, and I learned and confirmed my art passion. I wanted to find a purpose.
The fact is I am very emotional and sensitive person. In 2010 I went to live to Barcelona where I'm still being there, to study Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. There I noticed, that art is one of the most important things that I have in my life. I became stressed when I don't have enough time to paint!

In september 2015 I started a Master of Contemporary Artistic Creation (Creació Artística Contemporània) in the University of Barcelona. There I met a lot of artists and very interesting teachers who helped me to increase my knowledge about art theory and my art tools. In the workshops we shared our projects during the process.
I also like to show my art works, and achieve conversations around what I have done at the same time with other artists, and people who love the aesthetics. So I try to have some collective exhibitions in Barcelona or Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands). I dream with achieving all the art techniques, or instead of that do other artistic things as thetre. I love playing drama, and I have done also a performance called “Camins” (Ways) with another artist called Raquel Mata. At the same time, I like to teach, so this year I have just started teaching in de Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), and in an Art Academy DARTC in Barcelona.
